OUR NEXT CLUB MEETING
We have our Special Summer Club Meeting coming up on Tuesday 14th July at 2.30, when light refreshments and a glass of prosecco will be served! We are delighted to welcome back Edwin Preece whose talk will be a follow-up to an earlier talk on Tamla Motown – with musical clips. A perfect summer celebration of music we all know and love delivered by a speaker with a relaxed and knowledgeable style – something to really look forward to!

And so we come to the summer musical at Chichester Festival Theatre, which this year is the exquisite ‘My Fair Lady’! Our visit to this will be on Tuesday 18 August at 7.30. Now for our choice of productions for September, October and November – all at Guildford
We have been able to select a musical evening, a straight drama, and a thriller – a good range to suit all tastes!
So, on Wednesday 23rd September at 2.30 we have booked to see The Choir of Man. This is a wonderful musical evening – a group of men singing a range of well-known songs in a lively and warm pub-like atmosphere. As their publicity says: ‘Welcome to The Choir of Man, the best pub in the world… Come ready to drink in the excitement! Brimming with hits from artists such as Queen, Luther Vandross, Sia, Paul Simon, Adele, Guns & Roses, Avicii and Katy Perry to name but a few, this is a show like no other! Then to our October choice, a beautiful drama called ‘The Anastasia File’, starring Jenny Seagrove. Our visit will be on Thursday 22nd October at 2.30. July 1918. Tsar Nicholas II and his family are brutally executed by the Bolsheviks in Ekaterinburg. Two years later in Berlin, a woman is pulled from a canal after a failed attempt to take her own life and is placed in an institutional facility. As Doctors and police puzzle over her identity, she slowly begins to reveal details about her past that bring about the suspicion that she may in fact be the Grand Duchess Anastasia, the heir to the Romanov fortune. Inspired by the true story of Anne Manahan, whose thirty-year battle for recognition as the last surviving Romanov, was one of the most popular historical mysteries of the twentieth century.
